Hi, it’s me again. I felt like now would be as good a time as any to slide back over to the blog and say Happy New Year to anybody that is still here or will stumble upon this post at the start of 2024.
2023 wasn’t a groundbreaking year, but it felt like a cloud that had been hanging over my life started to clear. With that said, I started out with a lot of lofty goals for 2023. I didn’t achieve them all, but the ones I did complete made my year fulfilling.
Last year I spent a lot of time focusing on dance. Since getting back into pole dancing in 2022, I’ve been going at least 1 to 2 times a week. In 2023, I branched out and also went to chair dance classes, heels classes, and floorwork classes. Because I briefly took pole classes in my 20s, jumping back into it in my 30s wasn’t scary. The other forms of dance and exotic dance though? I was definitely nervous in the beginning. However, because of these classes, I feel like this year I’ve become a little bolder and I’ve come to see myself differently than I had before.
Also, the friends that I’ve made from all of my dance classes are absolutely wonderful, fun, encouraging, and all around great people and I absolutely love them and am so happy dance brought us together.
Another highlight from 2023 was visiting Japan for the first time since I moved back to the States in 2019….
OMG how I have missed Japan and didn’t know it. I only went for 2 weeks, which is technically long enough to remember all the joys of living there but not long enough to experience the things that made me leave. As a tourist, with the ability to FINALLY buy a Japan Rail Pass, I had SO much fun. So much so that I’d like to squeeze out another trip next year if I can. To be honest, a part of me wants to move back. I’ve started studying Japanese again just in case I decide to make the jump.
That trip was really what kicked off my desire to get back into my hobbies and update on the internet more…
Which leads us to 2024!
I’m expecting blogs and long form content to make a comeback this year so I’m working on scheduling more posts now, but expect more content about Japanese language, Japan, sewing, and pole/exotic dancing. I hope that I can strike that balance between being helpful, but still fulfilling the part of me that misses old blogs like livejournal and tumblr.
So with that, cheers to 2024!
I hope your year starts off wonderfully and I look forward to connecting with more people from here.
